Thank you for your interest in interning with Dr. Linty John-Varghese and Ohio Holistic Dental Center (OHDC). Please read all of the following instructions carefully regarding this Pre-Dental Internship. Dr. Linty John-Varghese graduated from New York University College of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with Honors in Implants in 2004. She then did a general practice residency at Dayton VA Medical Center and practiced at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Subsequently, she ventured into private practice by purchasing Lyons Dental. She later transitioned to the name Ohio Holistic Dental Center in early 2024, allowing more patients to find their new holistic dental home. This change was a result of Dr. Linty's growing passion for biological dentistry with a focus on whole-body wellness for better dental health. Her pivot to biological dentistry stems from her concern with the whole-body effects of dental materials, techniques, and procedures. Dr. Linty started this internship to inspire students pursue a path in dentistry and share her knowledge regarding biological and holistic dentistry! We accept interns for three different terms throughout the year. We accept 1-2 interns per term. The respective deadlines are as follows: - Fall 2024 (Sept - Dec), Deadline: August 23rd, 2024 at 11:59pm EST (now accepting applications!) - Spring 2025 (Jan - Apr), Deadline December 13th, 2024 at 11:59pm EST - Summer 2025 (May - Aug). Deadline April 18th, 2025 at 11:59pm EST Preference for this internship is given to current undergraduate pre-dental students. However, anyone over the age of 16 is encouraged to apply. If you have already been a recipient of this internship, you must wait one year before applying again. This internship allows our Pre-Dental Interns (PDIs) to gain up to 15 hours of shadowing per month with our biological dentist, Dr. Linty, here at OHDC. This means our PDIs can acquire up to 60 hours of dental shadowing in one term! To help our PDIs summarize their observations, they will need to create 6-8 social media posts per month to share what they have learned with the community. These projects can range from formal, informatic Instagram posts to fun, trendy TikToks! As long as the content is appropriate, we want our PDIs to enjoy this creative outlet, understand the observations that they make in the office, and find effect ways to share their knowledge with others. Successful completion of this program will allow interns to receive a letter of recommendation for their future applications from Dr. Linty. The social media content that you create must include a visual component and a 1-3 sentence written component (such as a descriptive caption). It can focus on any topic related to biological dentistry, as long as it demonstrates your creative skills, writing abilities, and current understanding of biological dentistry.
